Engaging, Applying, Serving

Youth programs at Broadway focus on the following throughout our weekly and yearly activities:

  • Engaging the Bible

  • Applying faith to our everyday lives

  • Serving the world around us

From spiritual retreats, to a mission camp for all youth in the summer, to weekly small groups, and many more activities, we learn and grow together in ways that empower youth and help cultivate their faith. Youth frequently serve in some capacity in the Sunday worship service.

Youth Weekly Schedule

(for the school year)

Sundays
10:00 am – 10:45 am Sunday School

During Youth Sunday School we meet in the "Youth Space"

During the school year, the youth meet on Sundays following worship for a time of community building, mission activities, and Bible study.

Summer Camps

Each summer, youth (grades 6-12) attend Passport Youth Camp. We pick a different location each year and sign-ups for camp begin in October (youth may sign up as late as May for camp, as long as space is available).

Youth Year at a Glance

January

Trivia Night Youth Fundraiser
This youth-sponsored event is open to all ages.  It’s a night of food, trivia, and fun that helps raise funds for various activities the youth do throughout the year.

February

Valentine’s Banquet and Dessert Auction
This event is held on the Wednesday night nearest to Valentine’s Day.  We have a spaghetti dinner, a few talent show performances, and a live dessert auction to help raise funds for youth activities.

May

Youth Sunday
Broadway’s “Youth Sunday” is a traditional service for the whole church led entirely by youth.  We spend several weeks preparing for the service.  During this service we also honor all who are graduating that year.

June/July

Passport Youth Camp
Each summer our youth attend camp with Passport, Inc.  This organization has a strong emphasis on missions, Bible study, worship and fellowship.  The location of the camp varies by year.  In the past, Broadway youth have attended camp in New Orleans, Georgia and North Carolina; Toronto, Canada and Kenya!  More information on Passport Youth Camps can be found at www.passportcamps.org.

August

Back to School Party and Small Groups Kick off
This event involves a night of games, food and fun scheduled on the Sunday nearest to the first day of school in Jefferson County.

November

Disciple NOW Weekend
Occurring on the first weekend in November, youth spend the weekend at church and in host homes separated by grades and gender.  We spend time in Bible Study, Worship and doing Mission projects around the community. The youth have always loved this weekend as it is a time to grow in their relationships with God, each other, and the community.

December

Christmas Food Delivery
In the week after school is out for the holidays, youth and families deliver the White Christmas food baskets to families in need.  Prior to the delivery, youth spend time gathering items and organizing boxes to make sure each family will have what they need to make a complete Christmas meal.
