Church Staffing Proposal

Church Staffing Proposal
In September of 2016, following a proposal to the church for ministry alignment, the Deacon body voted to withdraw the Co-pastor proposal and appoint an Ad Hoc committee to incorporate congregational thoughts regarding the ministry alignment plan and complete the process of developing and recommending an alignment plan that clearly addresses the mission and vision of Broadway Baptist Church. During the same month, we received the resignation of Chris Liles from the position as part time Associate Pastor (Youth).

The Deacons voted for the AdHoc committee to be appointed by the Deacon Chair, John Dotson, in consultation with the personnel committee. That committee has been formed, and those serving are: Bob Hook, chair, Lilly Davis, Emily Dotson, Emily Allen Kirby, Connie Rogers, Jeff Sanders, John Toma, Dave Watkins, and Ryan Williams.

The committee met Sunday, January 8, for an orientation with 2017 Deacon chair, Debby Griffin, and Vice Chair, George Coleman. John Dotson and Chris Caldwell were also in attendance. The resignation of Rev. Liles, and the transition of our Interim Youth Minister, Amanda Ashcraft into the role of Sunday Night Coordinator, prompted the AdHoc committee to explore staffing options as established by the congregation in a decision in 2010 to explore options rather than just replace the position.

In addition, committee members asked the Deacon body to develop a clear charge for their work. The Deacon body began the process of developing that charge at their monthly meeting on January 9. Once the deacons have completed and approved the clear guidelines for the committee, it will be sent to the committee to begin their work. Please keep the members of this committee in your prayers as they begin this very important work on behalf of our congregation.

Blessings,
Debby Griffin
