Broadway Honors James Williams' 21 Years of Service!

When you first meet this quiet man working diligently around the church, you can tell James Williams has a big heart. “I really enjoy people and talking to everyone,” James casually mentioned last week, “I always want to make people feel like they’re at home.” You may spot him from time to time in his signature Louisville Cardinals hat, but James prefers a more behind the scenes approach in his role here at Broadway.

This is why, when we reminded him that this month marks his 21 anniversary here at Broadway, he was so honored to be mentioned. Since joining our staff in 1996, James has been instrumental in keeping our facilities warm and inviting. James never ceases to step in personally to do whatever needs to be done for our congregation and the many friends in the community who share our campus. Whether it’s setting up for Wednesday night dinners, or ensuring the sanctuary is ready forSunday worship, James is always there.

“My favorite part of this job is watching something at the beginning and seeing it grow each year,” James said. These events have included the annual Ministry Fair and Service in September, something he’s very proud that Broadway sponsors. It’s safe to say that James knows the grounds of Broadway like the back of his hand, but he does have one favorite spot. “I love the gym!” he exclaimed as his face beamed. “I love anything to do with sports.”

When he’s not spending his time with us here at Broadway, James also works part-time at the Crowne Plaza, and still somehow manages to make time for his wife, Mary, their three children: Tim, Chris, Steven; his two daughters Jamie, and Nicole, as well as their five grandchildren: Kamren, Kaden, Kaycen, Kealen, and Christian. Please join us in congratulating James on his anniversary and for his tireless devotion to the needs of his Broadway family.
