Women on Mission Host Successful Spring Luncheon

The beauty and elegance of Lois Granger’s winning table, the whimsical rainy day nature of Teresa Gray’s flower vase boots and umbrella from the ceiling, and the sea-world creatures of Jean Sosnin’s creativeness, were three of the 23 tables dressed beyond imaginations and independently judged to be winners. Our musical guests were The A Capella Fellas. The lunch by Gracious Plenty Catering was delicious as always. The Youth of Broadway were servers, along with a few adults.

Silent auction tables were filled with fabulous baskets of books, gardening supplies, travel bags, and promises of tea parties and baked goodies. New this year, a raffle for a finish-line box at Churchill Downs for six people with lunch and a beautiful necklace and coordinating bow-tie, brought in record-breaking bids. The auction netted over $1800, and the raffle raised over $1800. As the books of this year’s event came to a close, the event brought in over $7,000. All proceeds will go to support many causes and will be decided by a committee and then reported. Some of the organizations given to in previous years and possible for this year’s distribution are:

Olive Branch, Scarlette Jasper, Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, Parkland Boys and Girls Clubs, Kristy Love Foundation, Department of Veterans Affairs, Partners in Development, Habitat for Humanity of Kentucky. Within Broadway Baptist Church: Jubilate Choir, Creative Arts Camp, and Extreme Build

As always, it takes many to make a successful event, and we could not have raised the amount without donations from: Christy Cox, Gracious Plenty Catering, Susan Hodapp, Heidi Hilliard, Cathy Smith, Ellen Waddle, Fay Jeffries, Betty Herin, Debbie Futrell, Melissa Barman, Dawn Stambaugh/Bybee Pottery, Women of Grace Sunday School Class, Peacemakers Mission Group including Teri Veal, Sharon Davis, Robin Riddle, and Janis Eberenz.

Also, thanks go out to James Williams, Broadway’s sexton, Rudd Parsons, Susan Reed, Christy Fuller, and Emily Holladay for all of their time and talents. Thank you to those that attended, donated or helped!

The efforts of many will enable us to “Go ye therefore into ALL nations.”

Your 2018 Spring Luncheon Committee,
