Did you know that 10% of your gifts to Broadway goes to Missions? One of our partners (and neighbors) in the community is Chenoweth Elementary.
In March, several Broadway members worked with Ebonne’ Ingram Jones (Family Resource Coordinator) at Chenoweth to install a new shelving system and storage bins so Chenoweth can more quickly respond to needs within their school.
Thank you for your generosity and to everyone who helped!
Thanks to everyone who came out for Blaze Pizza Night - our fundraiser for the new preschool/kindergarten option at Creative Arts Camp. We filled the place with more than 103 people. Though I have not gotten the official numbers from Blaze, with individual donations and estimated proceeds from Blaze, we raised at least $1,280!
The beauty and elegance of Lois Granger’s winning table, the whimsical rainy day nature of Teresa Gray’s flower vase boots and umbrella from the ceiling, and the sea-world creatures of Jean Sosnin’s creativeness, were three of the 23 tables dressed beyond imaginations and independently judged to be winners. Our musical guests were The A Capella Fellas. The lunch by Gracious Plenty Catering was delicious as always. The Youth of Broadway were servers, along with a few adults.
Many thanks to those who sponsored flowers for our worship services in 2017 through our Flower Ministry. We have the following dates available in 2018: April 8, June 10, July 15, and August 12. If you would like to sponsor a flower arrangement, please contact the church office at 502.895.2459. If you have a particular Sunday for which you have sponsored flowers on an ongoing basis in the past, please verify these dates with the office.
Dave and I want to thank our Broadway family for all the phone calls, emails, cards and prayers during our surgeries. Dave continues with physical therapy for his shoulder, and I've been released! We are both doing well and know it was due to your support and encouragement.
The Bible is filled with tales of strong women who, like Martha, were not only spiritually-minded, but had a passionate servant’s heart. Broadway is blessed to have these amazing qualities in our Church Administrator, Betsy Cherry, who is celebrating her fifth anniversary this month.
James likes to tease about his questionable seniority, as they both started within weeks of each other, but Facilities Manager Don Irvan has hit a milestone this week.
Vibrant. Caring. Seeking. Compassionate. Thoughtful. Organized. Striving. Engaged in the lives of Broadway’s children. These are just a few ways to describe Rev. Emily Holladay, who is celebrating three years as the Associate Pastor (Families and Children) at Broadway.
When you first meet this quiet man working diligently around the church, you can tell James Williams has a big heart. “I really enjoy people and talking to everyone,” James casually mentioned last week, “I always want to make people feel like they’re at home.” You may spot him from time to time in his signature Louisville Cardinals hat, but James prefers a more behind the scenes approach in his role here at Broadway.
Thank you for all the kindness and generosity you have shown me and my family during this time of transition! We continue to feel the blessings of being part of God’s story at Broadway.
My cell phone number will remain unchanged as well as our home address. My new work e-mail address is: ccaldwell@simmonscollegeky.edu

This month, we celebrate the fifth anniversary of Robert Gammon's ministry at Broadway. When the search committee was given the job description by the deacons and surveyed the congregation, it was clear that expectations were very high. In unanimously recommending Robert, we believed that we had found the person who could meet those expectations - and he exceeds them!
Special thanks to our members, Steve Hymer and Emily Dotson, for their tireless work in our office this summer. Both of these talented individuals made the transition between former and new staff members so effortlessly seamless. From the creation of our weekly worship and communications pieces to updating of our website, these two individuals personify the teaching of Jesus, and we are so grateful for all they did!

Barbara Bridger, one of our church sextons, celebrated her 15th Anniversary of faithful service with Broadway Baptist Church on Saturday, July 8.
On behalf of Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville and the families we serve, thank you for your support and belief in our vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. With donations like yours, our organization is able to thrive, transforming more lives and improving more neighborhoods each year.

The family of Tom Wilson do appreciate the many acts of kindness extended during the last month of his life.
Dear Church Family,
My family and I thank you for everything you have done for us during this difficult time.
Every Wednesday afternoon by 4 p.m., activity starts in the Kitchen and Friendship Hall at Broadway. A few volunteers arrive and begin cutting lemons, fixing water and tea dispensers, cutting and plating desserts (everyone’s favorite), and putting ice in glasses.
Dear Friends,
On behalf of the Board of Directors, participants, and staff of Family Scholar House, I want to thank you for your gift of $1,065.98, which we received on 4/28/17. Your generosity supports our mission to break the cycles of poverty and homelessness through education and career development.
Dearest friends,
Where do we begin to say thank you for all your prayers, cards, concerns, and telephone calls during these long weeks of fear for our daughter’s safety? The power of prayer can never be underestimated! She and her friend for life (also named Joelle) are home safe due to the prayers of many people.
A big thank you to all who attended, decorated, and donated to the Women on Mission Spring Luncheon.
Thanks to all who contributed and worked on the Prayer Garden. It's beginning to look beautiful.Benches will be placed there soon. Please visit it. You will find it through the field or via Chippewa Road. The Garden is funded by private donations, not the church budget.
We are celebrating another successful sale netting almost $5,700. Thank you to many generous Broadway donors and volunteers. FYI, the racquetball court will be closed for the month of April for cleaning. During April only, you may choose to donate your items to the Ridge family yard sale. They are raising money to adopt a two year old boy from China who has Beckwith-Wiede mann syndrome. You may reach Matt at 502.558.1998 or Mary Ann at dr.remodel@juno.com. Beginning in May, donations for next year's Spring Missions Sale may be placed in the racquetball court.
A sincere thank you to Broadway members for continuing to remember mother (Helen Graves). She treasures each message she receives from you.
Mother lived with us for eight months, then following another small stroke, we placed her in a nearby nursing home. She has adjusted well and is very happy here in Black Mountain. She will be 103 in May!
Thanks again for your love and support of her through the years.
Sincerely,
~ Cannan Hyde
Dear Broadway Baptist Congregation,
Emily and I would both like to thank all of you for your support over this past year. Through death, grief, cancer, and many unknowns, we have truly been humbled and blessed by Broadway, both through work and as a church family.
Thank you for all of your prayers, cards, food, and gifts, as it has helped us to keep moving forward and given us the means to support our own. I'm not sure how we would have made it without a loving church family.
Thank you,
~ Matthew and Emily Thompson
Dear Church Family,
Since July 2016, I have been on a journey that has tested my physical and spiritual well being. By the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the many prayers, cards, phone calls, flowers, and visits from this congregation, my journey has been blessed. Only the Lord knows how long my journey will continue.
I know that I do not walk alone. Our Lord is with us all. He has sent his army of Angels in the form of this congregation to help me walk this path. Thank you for walking this journey with me and reminding me of the power of love through Jesus Christ.

Shannan and I and our children would like to thank you for your prayers, visits, phone calls, and cards upon the passing of my mother on Christmas Eve. The love and concern that you showed us during such a busy time for all of you is a reminder of why we were drawn to Broadway so many years ago. We are blessed to have such a loving congregation.
Thank you again.

Like a sturdy dependable vessel on the High Seas, John Toma is like that ship that never waivers and is always there ready to carry that load.
John is painting hallways, stairwells, and anything else he can put a brush to, saving the Church a handsome amount of money. John says he will continue to paint until he has covered this vast ocean.
When you see John, thank him for his hard work and his dedication to keeping our ship afloat.
